apple setup utility for tiger

i have a dual2 g5 on the way from apple right now. i want to load the settings and files from my b/w over. problem is that for the utility to work i have to boot the old mac in target disk mode. now as we all know you can't do that with a b/w.
so i am wondering, if i take the HD out and put it in a external fw enclosure, would it work the same?? b/c all TDM really is is using the mac as a FW h/d.

if anyone has any experience or thoughts on this, please share the wealth

thanks

I believe

It only looks for a startup OS X folder. As long as it sees that, it should pull up. I have pulled data off of a FW 80GB External before with the utility. So it should work. Good Luck!
