ok, so I was watching an old Apple share holder's meeting, a they took a recess. they then started playing this old 80's music. turns out, they had a theme song. it's called "we are apple" link
this gave me an idea: go into the apple store on Friday (Apple's birthday), and play this on as many machines as I can get before they kick me out. either that, or put it on my iPod, and plug it into the HiFi in the store, and blast it over that.
any thoughts? what are you doing for Apple's 30th
share your ideas here.

Apple's birthday is Saturday. They formed on April 1.
whoops, where is my mind. for some reason, I think it's the 29th. go figure.
well, saturday then. it'll be more crowded. who knows, they may be holding something special at the retail stores anyways? I was planning on going sometime this weekend.

Wow, that is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen in my life. Then again, at IBM, we had a songbook. Here's a flash animation of IBM's ever onward song. http://anthems.zdnet.co.uk/anthems/ibm.swf Most IBMer's don't know about the IBM songs in these enlightened times (thank god). Odd how I once was an IBMer, and am know a contractor for Apple. Weird how life goes. Oh well.
Wow.. what a dangerously dancable song. I've always had a soft spot for unbearably cheesy 80s synth pop.
It's a rewrite of Irene Cara's "What a Feeling" from the Flashdance soundtrack. The original was cheesy enough. This version would make Chester Cheetah cringe.
Dear God, that is horrible. I've always hated the 80s, this just reminded me why.
if you were to run the video, you would get kicked out before you got to the third mac
You'd scare people from ever buying a Mac! I can't imagine the Apple Store would be too happy about that!
Cheers,
The Czar
I found a better quality song and movie on a Japanese site. The song is much better quality, but I'm not 100% certain of the movie as it's still downloading.

I am posting this from the apple store and i just had about 10 computers playing the movie. Haven't been thrown out yet!
Just make sure they secretely haven't pressed the security button behind the glass...m
Cool you are a former IBMer, I'm a current IBMer.
What did you do when you were there?
As for the Apple video, there is no doubt it is from the 80s.
i just brought up the video on all of their computers with the volume turned up. all they really did was go behind me and turn it down. and yes i used to be an ibm'er. but then i used a mac and havent turned back since!
Back in summer 2000, I was a summer supplemental tech. It was a great experience. I worked in IBM Global Services, doing server testing on Win NT Server and AIX boxes. It was good work. I come from a long line of IBMers, my great aunt was an IBMer, my aunt's an IBMer, my dad's an IBMer, and my sister and her husband are also former IBMers. Now I'm a contractor for Apple. It all comes full circle sooner or later.
My first computer was an ibm portable 5155. its an xt clone. i spent many hours on that machine playing pacman and the like.
