My Wallstreet won't boot...

I'm not sure if this is in the right category, but here it is. I just got my new Wallstreet (233MHz, 13.3" screen) last Thursday. The plug on the end of the adapter (by the way, it's a YoYo adapter) that plugs into the computer is held on with electrical tape. I went to turn it on Wednesday (22nd) and it wouldn't come on. The speakers popped like normal, but no chime, and it spit my cardbus to USB adapter out. So I reseated the processor and all of the RAM, and I re-taped the adapter. It still wouldn't boot. So I zapped the PRAM and the speakers popped, but still no chime. I zapped it a couple more times and finally it chimed and started up normally. When I checked the "About This Mac" dialog box, it reported 64MB more RAM than I have. It ran fine until this morning. I went to turn it on and no chime. So I zapped the PRAM, but this time the sleep light stayed on and the speakers made a hissing noise. I zapped it again and the light shut off. So now it won't boot and whenever I zap the PRAM the light stays on until I zap it again. What's up? I think the adapter had been shorting. Could it have wrecked itself so that it won't supply enough power to the computer? Thanks.

Specs:
128MB RAM (says 192MB)
Mac OS X 10.2.4
233MHz (0K L2 cache)
13.3" screen

You sure its not a 128 stick

You sure its not a 128 stick in the top slot and a 64 underneath? Also try resetting the pmu , the combination is on the back near the ports.

I think you're right about th

I think you're right about the RAM, and I got the names mixed up. I can't zap the PRAM because the computer won't come on. Resetting PMU makes the light stay on. But I noticed my adapter started producing a rather loud buzzing noise. Oh yeah, and I can't run it off of a battery because mine's dead, just in case anyone was wondering.

not sure about this, but the

not sure about this, but the clock battery might be an issue as well. my wallstreet spent a few years in the closet before it came to me, so both batteries and the clock battery were dead when i got it. both normal batteries work (but one of them seems to have a short charge). i think my clock battery not working is leading to it shutting down on battery power when the battery still has another hour of charge in it. people have suggested resetting the pmu and that hasn't helped me, so i suspect the clock battery in your case as well as mine. the power connector being loose on the sound card can be an issue as well. dead clock battery means everything dies when the main battery is removed, so the computer won't boot off battery power. loose power connector not getting the power it needs to the computer can prevent startup in this case as well.

I would avoid taped yoyo's if

I would avoid taped yoyo's if I were you. If anything put a new connector on the ps. You can actually use a stereo headphone plug, but you better be good at soldering. The positive is the center connector on the wire, and the negative is the outside braid. On the plug the positive is the part furthest from the tip, and the negative is the next one up.

EDIT: If you do this, make sure you don't accidentally plug into the sound in or sound out ports.

I bought a new adapter and it

I bought a new adapter and it seems to be working fine now. It didn't work at first and I had to fiddle with it for like four hours before it chimed, but now it works. Thanks for the suggestions.
