My apple Pro Mouse does it!
Its in my mighty mouse and apple pro mouse. Though the one in the apple pro mouse looks more like a fat rabbit to me.

Any way to confirm that this was an intended easter egg, and not just a wild coincidence? Seems to me, considering this is Apple, if it was intended, it'd be a lot cooler....

It's probably just a coincidence. But, if it is an easter egg, thats just the sort of subtle thing apple would do.
I don't think Apple designed the optics themselves. It's probably a thrid party part... so it's either their Easteregg or just a coincidence
