I'm a fan but haven't gotten a machine to run it on, I wish there were more resources for users.

empathy

I understand. ☹ My A/UX machine died, and trying to find a suitable replacement 68k box is getting difficult! I kick myself for getting rid of a Q610 last year.

a/ux resources

BTW - I've recently taken up maintenance of the A/UX FAQ, so if you know of any obscure resources, just let me know!

Currently working on ...

... setting up A/UX 3.1.1 on a Quadra 950 as a server (file storage really). I'm gradually trying to maxing it out in every way. It will be a dual boot into A/UX and MacOS 8.1 (to use the PowerPC upgrade card). I have a Jackhammer SCSI card that will be using four 18GB SCA drives (have 80 to 68/50pin converters). With a CD-ROM it is quite a squeeze to get the 5 HDs in there but it will work.

Also, for some serius answers, check out the "UNIX AUX" section on www.TalkAboutComputing.com. I think there are some Europeans (german maybe) that watch that list and they seem to know a lot.

comp.unix.aux

Ahh, that seems to be a gateway to Usenet. The comp.unix.aux newsgroup has been around since about 1990.

Appleshare Pro

Hi, I have a AWS 950 running A/UX 3.1. I had Appleshare Pro and had fun running it as my home print and file server but I inadvertently initialized the drive. Is there anywhere to aquire Appleshare Pro? Thank you.

Savvy internet users have been able to find it..

..In a german FTP for years. Although that copy seems to have a file thats corrupt if I remember correctly. Still, its there, and dodgy, but available.

AWS 95 here (full 512K PDS SC

AWS 95 here (full 512K PDS SCSI card) with the original media for A/UX 3.1.1. I was going to use it for a file server and to do backups (A/UX version of retrospect is fast on that machine, plus AppleShare Pro is fast also) but need to install another HD when I get the chance.

A/UX is very picky about hardware so you can rule out fancy SCSI Nubus cards and most other things. Get the AWS95 + PDS card if you are serious about A/UX. I can provide a good 3.1 upgrade cd image if you need it.

Also check out www.aux-penelope.com for information on the various versions.
