The Sims House Party WILL NOT INSTALL

I just got a copy of The Sims House Party, and It keeps saying "An additional 375.3MB are needed on "Pete's HD" to install". I've got 49GIGS free! HELP! I can't return it, so I might as well holler for help on the forums! :o Blum 3

I really don't know if it wou

I really don't know if it would matter, but is your hard drive formatted the unix way or the standard hfs+ way?

When I used to support office products, we would run into problems with the installer when people tried installing it on a drive formatted with what i think was called UFS (unix file system).

We recommended that they used HFS+ or do the drag and drop but warned them that the value pack installer wouldn't run as well.

Okay, now are you doing anyth

Okay, now are you doing anything non-standard such as using links (or whatever they are called) to move your home folders to a different partation? Or is your whole OS standard with no out of the ordinary customizations?

This relates to the only other thing I remember for installing problems, was that when customer's used to move their home folders to a different partition and only had the os on say a 2 gig partition, it would tend to causes "issues".

Anything "extraordinary" on your setup?

I know it's stating the obvious, but are you guys logged in with admin and/or root priviledges?

Update won't help

The update won't help anything due to the program not being installed yet. I'm having the same issue on a friends Mac and haven't been able to do much. Don't worry about calling Apple for support because doing they're tech support I'll be upset if you call me yelling about The Sims not working. I've found a few things to try so here goes:

go into system pref's, open classic pref's, hold the option key and click on "Memory/Versions" at the top (this will allow you to adjust memory on the page), click on "Adjust Memory" at the bottom and set it higher. This will only change the RAM allocated, but its worth a shot...will at least let everything run a little faster when running in Classic.

try booting directly into Classic and installing.

EA's Tech Support has nothing on Mac's so don't waste your time. I've checked for any known issues from our end and theres nothing here. Best of luck and let me know if you find any good answers.
