Well, number two is on the way. Baby number two that is. ATM I'm in a Panera near the hospital where my wife is recieving a drip of Pitosin, because the baby is past the expected due date of the 20th. Our first baby had gone 2 weeks early, so my wife has been quite uncomfortable for the past few weeks. If it all goes fine we should have #2 out by this evening. We still aren't sure if it's a girl or a boy, but hey that's half the fun.
Anyway, lunch is almost over for me, then it's back to the no-wirelesss world of the hospital.
May your child be born under a clear sky, a warm sun, and a full moon.
... and since that probly won't happen, may they grow up to be rich so they can afford the best retirement community for you!
Seriously, though, congratulations.
The good news is that two is still a mangeable number.
Best advice (I have three), take your kids everywhere you go and get them used to being out. The more you do, the less they embarass you in restaurants and malls. I can always tell a toddlers first big restaurant outing by the screams, the tossed Cheerios, and the red tinged parent's faces as the feel the glare of everyone's stares.
And watch out for 'transition', I always got thrown out of the room at that point and had to come back later.
I guess this means you will have to update that famous avatar of your (I still laugh everytime I see it!)
First off...Congratulations!
Second, You brought a powerbook with to the hospital!!! Your wife must be a mac nut as well?
Hope that all is well there, and that you have yourself another healthy child!
I just got a call from Jon!
His wife gave birth to a second grader...eerrrr I mean a REALLY BIG baby boy whose name I don't want to butcher (Not quite sure how they spelled it) so I'll let Jon post his name. He's only about an hour old right now, and they're expecting to leave the hospital tomorrow.
Congrats Jon!
Looking forward to the avatar update. And congratulations!
"Yes kids, Dad's a geek. He carries your photos in his wallet and on his af account."
Best of luck, Jon...
Speaking of which... I'm getting tired of the nightmares, BDub... just what the HECK IS THAT?
I demand an explanation!
His avatar reminds me of the Homestarmy.
As for the baby, he's Theron John, and his stats come in at 10lbs 12.2 oz (4.882kg), and 22.5" (.57M) long! His first name is the first name of the maternal grandfathers of my wife and I. She just likes how my grandfather spelled it. He's ginormous, but he still didn't beat my wife's aunt who was born at 10lbs 15oz...
Wow! I'll bet your wife felt that! That's one large child.
Congrats and all that. Sounds like mom & TJ are doing well.
How is big (brother/sister) handling the arrival? Usually a big step for the little ones to make the mental jump from accepting that there is a little brother in mom's tummy to a little brother in the spot they used to occupy in mom's lap. I know that was an issue with every one we had after the first (four kids at my house).
Three tidbits of dad-to-dad advice; don't work too much (be at home as much as you can), don't turn your kids down when they ask you to play (get down on the floor as often as you can), and let them tag along with you in any little project you do around the house (let them slow you down as much as they can). Your kids are kids for only a short time, and you can't get those days back. No man ever got to the end of his life wishing he'd spent more time at the office.
Ouch! I'm getting dizzy just imagining 10lb 12oz. and 22 inches. At least you'll be assured that football scholarships will pay for college.
Congratulations!
And um, ahem, shouldn't this thread be titled "OUR latest creation"? You might want to see if Tom can change that before she gets out of delirium and onto AF. After all, Mom's been doing the work of giants there.
Looking forward to your new pic. How old is the first child now?
Yep, big sis is ok with it in general. It's all the people milling around when she's visiting that make her uncomfortable. If it's just the 4 of us she does pretty well. As well as a 2.5y/o can, anyway. She has a "helper" attitude and she likes to do little tasks so helping with the baby should be a good transition if we keep her involved.
Even with the big melon (15" diameter) he can hold his head up and move it decently. Pretty good for a day old!
Luckily I work for my father, and my wife works for her father, so any time something for family comes up we can take off easily. Plus both sides of our family like having us around. That means we both get along with the in-laws well. (notice I shifted to "we" ) I keep telling my wife she could be a baby machine, but she's tired of being pregnant. Oh well. Heh heh. She's shot out two kids with no physical damage and no surgery. There's women out there wishing they had it that easy.
And Cm, that's a great pic! My wife will get kick out it when I show her.
And I guess I should clarify about the name a bit. Both maternal grandfathers had the same name but spelled differently. Theron vs. Tharen.
Congrats and Well Wishes
She said "Oh my gosh" (looks at him) "you aren't that big are ya?"
of course not... as we all know, its a small world
Holy Painful Birth Batman! Your wife as earned a well-deserved break after giving birth to a boy that size. On the upside, I bet no one will steal his toys in playschool ;-).
Football scholarships might pay for college, but who's gonna pay the grocery bill? That's what I'd be worried about!
Congratulations though, and all the best!
Cheers,
The Czar
