I have a large database on Claris and need to move ot to PC. I would be using Word Database. Can this be done. Is there software I can buy to do it?

If you wanted to share a word processing document with a friend, you would save it as a compatible format they could open with their windows software word processor. The same principle applies to just about any file you want to share with a windows or mac user. The simplest ways would be to first use the windows program, and determine which file formats it can open without modification. Does it accept filemaker or another format? And secondly an easy step is to export, or "save as" your current database to a universally accepted format. Tab delimited or comma delimited databases define columns using text and either a tab or comma, and are readable and importable by almost every single database program you are likely to come across. The key when importing is lining up the database fields so the data "flows" into the proper fields in the new format. (think first name going into first name, last name going into last name, etc.) This should get you started. If you need more specific help, let me know.
