I'm putting together an Apple II system as a gift. A reunion gift more or less. I have about 6 weeks to spec it out and gather the parts. Some of which I have laying around, some I need to purchase. This is for a user that had at one time had one. But has not used one in like 20 years.
In order to maximize the Apple II experience I was thinking of:
An Enhanced //e or a Platinum //e
SuperSerialCard
Grappler+ Parallel printer interface
64k/80col card
2 Disk II drives + interface
TimeMaster II H.O.
Joystick and Paddles
Amdek 300 Monitor or Apple Color Monitor
Box of cables and disks and a few manuals
I thought about going the IIgs route as I have several of those. But it seems far more interest was expressed in a plain old //e.
I believe this to be the optimal bang-for-the-buck and most-easily "put-together" configuration. I'm open to suggestions to fine tune this, either delete something, or add something.
unless there's an actual dot matrix printer on the other end of the grappler, I don't really see the point. Otherwise everything else look right.

i don´t know "how precious" the gift shall be, but allthough the plain configuration is very neat -
it probably would be nice to add a CFFA card for storage and expansion of availiable software to
the offers given by the internet..... it give´s the recipient the chance to expand usage to his
own favors....
and depending also to the former favors... probably also a Z80 card for CP/M ?
just the 2 addons i would at least also put in such a gift.... depending to the
value i would like to give to the system to ensure maximum freedom in usage.....
and related to the printer .... a lot of old printers had offered a kind of Epson emulation and nearly
each software bundle in those days supported the configuration of an Epson printer
( the most commen emulation was the FX80 or MX 80 )
and there are still a lot stylewriters out there that support such emulation
( or a printer with HP III emulation ) which also was very common in those days...

I don't believe I'd be able to acquire a CFFA3K in the allotted time frame. I could probably throw in a z80 card. These are plentiful and cheap.
I could make a cardboard CFFA3K and print it out. And write an order code on it. And stuff it. As I think Rich will be taking orders by then.
