passive matrix lcd swap

i was wondering who out there has swapped LCDs on a wall street from passive matrix to something else, and if there is some chance i could take the 12" lcd i have from a spare g4 ibook and put that in. im all about experimenting so even still i may take these both apart just to see whats different on them both...
