Someone please tell this is a joke, and that they used a replica board?

Nine phones at $9,990 apiece

Nine phones at $9,990 apiece doesn't work out to "cut up an Apple 1"-type money.

They stop a bit short of explicitly saying it's a genuine 1976  board: "A fragment of the circuitry of the first personal computer in the world - Apple 1 ".

How can they prove any of it?

I see they're also selling "threads" of Steve Jobs Sweater that he was wearing on stage when he introducing the Apple iPhone 4 - packed into an iPhone 12 case.

The whole concept seems kind of stupid to me.  I think someone with a lot of discretionary money to spend would also see it that way, but I guess you never know ....

No way it's real look at the

No way it's real look at the picture they have the exact same Apple-1 circuit board area.  Sorry but I don't think they cut up 2 originals let alone 1.  I think the circuit is a reproduction.

Apple-1 board

Yes, that is a jlcpcb-made one...

Incidentally, for anyone sending the Gerber files for manufacture and to make a more realistic board, don't forget to add the following request : "Please allow Silkscreen (White Letters) on the HASL finish where there is not soldermask".
Without this request, the boards will look like the one above (see top right area).

Just have a look to the

Just have a look to the terrible promotional video. They used the 905K Apple-1 sold to the Henry Ford Museum as a reference for the value, because it was the most expensive. In the video is just the information, that they used a Apple-1 PCB. No information, if it is real or replica.

Obviously, they used a cheap replica board for the ugly case. They just wanted everyone to think it is a real one. Of course, it is not a real one.

They way they advertise it is very questionable.

But many believe, it is a real Apple-1 and many bloggers just copy-paste this wrong presumption. Without thinking or validation.

Well, most blogs are just copy-paste to get clicks and to place ads on the webpage. Nothing we can do about it. Regular customers of Caviar will still buy it.

I received emails from people asking, which Apple-1 they used or if they really used the 905K Apple-1.

Btw: Luckily, Applefritter is free of ads. Thank you Tom!
