I've seen plenty of pictures of these on the net and thought they were cool. As neat as the idea seemed, I knew I would never be able to willingly salvage a case from even the most dysfunctional machine. Luckily, a colleague of mine came across a kit at a garage sale and kindly thought of me when he forked over $10 for the kit.
Instead of fish, I opted for a couple small tree frogs.
The green mesh at the top is a makeshift cover - rubber band holding some cabinet cover over the top. This provides a barrier to keep the frogs in, and also provides ventilation and some pretty easy access for adding water.
Cool! I hope you used a Mac with dead guts; wouldn't want to see a good-running computer used for this.
