Issues Getting Apple IIGS Online with Uthernet II

BBS:I've tried using programs like Megaterm 1.1 and ColorTerm 3.5, but I've had no luck as they don't seem to support the Uthernet II. I tried using Spectrum, but it didn't show in color like I thought it would, and when I typed a character on my Apple Extended Keyboard II, it would type the character twice.

Webber (Web Browser):I'd like to get my IIGS (it's accelerated to 10Mhz and has 8Mb of RAM) on the web, and my Uthernet II is fully setup and working, but when I try to go to a website on Webber through GS/OS, it says it can't connect to any website, including the default starting page and FrogFind.

Any help is appreciated! Tysm!

I was able to get the BBS to

I was able to get the BBS to show up in full color and work now using the ANSI online display, but it still types each character twice. Any ideas?

Spectrum is the only terminal

Spectrum is the only terminal program on the IIGS that I know of that is Uthernet II - aware.

It's a terrific program, and supports colour ANSI as well as ProTerm Special Emulation along with a couple of others emulations that are pretty neat.

You need to turn duplexing off by default.  You can do this individually in your "phone book" for each BBS or online service you call.

The instruction manual is here:

Sorry for my inexpeirience

Sorry for my inexpeirience lol, this is my first time using a BBS. How do I turn off duplexing for the BBS? Also, any ideas for my issues described above about Webber?

full duplex

You need to switch your terminal emulation software to "local echo off", also called "full duplex". Technically they are not quite the same.

"Duplexing" is not what local echo is called.

How should I do this?

Sorry if I'm sounding dumb lol, but how might I do this in Spectrum? Tysm for the help!I tried checking "Echo" in the port settings, and now it doesn't type to characters, but the second I enter the BBS, it types something out, presses enter and messes everything up lol.

I'm not sure what you're seeing or what you mean by "the second I enter the BBS" but the current version of Spectrum should have Half Duplex and Echo off by default.  You cna check it by selecting from the top menu "SETTINGS" then "PORT".

Also, for almost all BBS systems you need to have Telnet turned off (there are a few exceptions).  You'll see this in the address book area by invoking the key combination "OPEN APPLE-D" or "COMMAND-D" depending on your keyboard.

Seriously, read the manual.
