I've just aquired a Greengate DS:4 and wondered if anyone had any documentation or software for this Apple II based sampler. I understand that there were only 50 made and of those only 3 were sold. I am told that the device worked on both the Apple II and the Apple IIGS.

What does it do?
It digitizes audio into samples and/or accepts MIDI commands to reproduce them as audio/music
The book Apple Thesaurus has a fairly detailed discussion of these types of devices under "Instrumental Music Synthesis" on pp. 172-178. Greengate isn't mentioned, but it includes the Decillionix DX-1, E-Mu Drumulator, Mountain Music System, (Fender) Rhodes Chroma, Roland Compumusic, Syntauri Quickwave, and a variety of other devices that employ various different methods to interface audio samples to SMPTE and MIDI.
That is correct it is a 16 bit sampler from the mid 80s that utilised an Apple IIe or GS for the user interface. The samples are stored in the samplers RAM with all editing and looping etc being controlled by the Apple II. I have the interface card that goes with it, but not the software. As there were only 50 made and 3 sold it's a long shot but thought I would ask here.
