Hello Everyone!

So let's start out by saying I'm the only certified apple tech in an approximate 100 Mile radius. I am very well known as the guy who loves apples and the guy who can fix anything. Well my iie's are displayed in my living room, so everyone can enjoy :D... Anyway,

My friend is over here getting his iPod fixed and he told me he found the original apple computer in his grandmas old farm house... What he really found was a Bell and Howell apple II plus. He told me to sell it and split it with him... Here's the thing, I'm not quite sure how to price it, and that being said I also want it for my own collection. If anyone is able to help, I'd love to throw some picture up for you.

Thanks
Sam

-I can also send it to California to get signed by the Woz, not sure if that will help with the value any?

It looks like its in great shape from the picture you provided.

Prices are all over the place for these. The least I would take for it would be $250 my self. If it had a backpack system it would probably be worth over $500 easy.

The absolute most I've seen a non backpack system sell for was $600 a while back.

If its really in its original box it may be worth a lot to someone.

Well the box is stained, but not beat up. I think I'll add it to my collection, it has a 11,000 serial. I've seen them with a lot higher serials (20,000)

On that note, I'm going to put it in my collection, and mail it to Woz, put a nice and silver Handcock on it for me.

Thanks
Sam

Yes! Keep it!!! Because:

(1) The II+ is, IMHO, the Goldilocks of the Apple II line -- not too old, not too new, just right. (If it doesn't have a ROM card, get one so you can also use integer BASIC.)

(2) Look at it! It's Darth Vader!

(3) You'll regret it if you sell it -- the money will be gone in a week or two. If you keep it, you'll feel its awesomeness every time you look at it.

(4) The odds of getting another one of these in good shape from some friend's great-aunt's attic or grandpa's basement are very low.

I tip my imaginary hat to you; this is a great post and you just made me smile. (:

I would love to just keep it, but this guy thinks it may be gold and worth like $2000, at this point after several times of contacting him without him returning my calls, I kinda just hope he forgets about it. Lol that's bad. But I would love to take down my g3/g4 display and give my apple iie's a proper display and put the Vader up as well!!!

The board is using Microsoft77 basic.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think I'll find many like it, considering someone who tried to buy it told me thy bought the floppy drives 2 years ago and has been waiting to add the computer.

Thanks!
Sam

They are uncommon, however if you look on ebay they come up quite often. They usually don't sell for but $200-$300. But on occasion a really nice unit will sell for around a $1000.

$2000 is just not going to happen I'm afraid.

I hope everything gets worked out with your friend...

I use the term friend loosely, he was a classmate of mine, and now is a user... So I'm sure they all think they have gold.

This one doesn't even have a scratch on it, whoever had it took really good care of it.

It's only missing one of its Velcro pads that keeps the case closed.

Make sure you ask for a Hancock instead.

What makes a B&H collectible is set completeness. If you have all of the packing list parts, it will push the price up.

When it come to the. B&H through, what really makes it desirable to a collector is if it does not have any scratches! They are nearly always scratched & scuffed up...

Personally, I think they are ugly but I appreciate the desirability.

Well this one is completely scratch less, does that help? And it not a complete set unfortunately

Re: Found a Bell and Howell II Plus in it's box, practically ...

Hey guys. Just an update...

Over Christmas time the father of the farmhouse had me fix his phone, I asked him about coming out and looking for the rest of the parts and he told me any time... So I went out and what did I find... The backpack, maybe not.... But I did find the floppy drives in an apple box... 2 beautiful flawless bell and howell apple II drives... Funny thing is... This unit doesn't have the joystick ports on the side of it. I can get the set together and take some pictures. I asked him if I could trade tech sevices to become the owner of the machine and he ignored me completely, I feel like he knows how much I love it and that it will always have a home.

Thanks
Sam

Re: Found a Bell and Howell II Plus in it's box, practically ...

Sam,

Several folks have (correctly) given you a selling price range.

A B&H unit in relatively good condition is going for $200.00 to $300.00 each.

The Disk II Drives in relatively good condition go for between $29.00 to $49.00 each.

The point? Condition! Condition! Condition!

Condition will raise or lower your price range.

I have three B&H units (two with backpack and one without)
that I bought several years ago for less than $75.00 each (relatively good condition)
But as we all know, since SJ passed away everybody and their brother
seems to think that that should have an impact on prices.

If you REALLY want to see an impact, wait until Woz leaves the planet
to build computers for the Gods. lol

Anyway... Keep your B&H.

I would never sell mine.
I might give one as a gift,
but I will not sell one.

Steven Smile
