I have an original M0001 Macintosh from 1984 and I am increasingly experiencing technical problems with the internal 400kb drive and the external drive that I have. I have several generic floppy disks for it, Memorex double sided disks formatted to single sided, KO Double Sided disks, Maxwell etc, I seem to be randomly encountering problems where it will not boot with an error code of 0F0064 which I understand to be an operating system load failure. I seem to be also encountering a large number of disks that fail when attempting to be formatted on ether disk drive, although the internal drive seems to have a better success rate with formats. I don't ever recall in the past these drives being so problematic and bothersome, are they? There does appear to be a rather disconcerting tick tick tick tick noise from the internal floppy drive when it is attempting to read or write to a disk. I suspect that these drives ether need cleaning somehow or adjusting. Are there some better brands than others in terms of reliable floppy disk media?

Do you have a cleaner floppy you could try?
Good point, no I don't have one, I guess I can chase one down from somewhere.
Does the cleaner disk have to be specific to the 400k drive?
No, I'm not entirely familiar with how they work
But to be safe you could tape over the right hole on the bottom.
Found myself a cleaning kit, these don't seem that common
