Re: Wanted to Buy for Macintosh IIgs: Kensington System ...

IIgs,

1. Kensington System Saver IIgs: They've had 2 up on eBay in the past 30 days. It should not be hard to find one for a reasonable price.

3. Vintage (circa 1986-1987) Bose Roommate IIgs Computer Speakers: I'm sorry, but I personally have never seen a set of these anywhere. As a matter of fact this is the first time in 20 years that I have heard of them. Of course I would never profess to know every piece of gear that was ever built for the Apple IIs, but if I had ever known about them I would have been searching for a pair myself. lol

Good Hunting!

Re: Wanted to Buy for Macintosh IIgs: Kensington System ...

Kensington System Saver IIgs should be easy enough. Though if I was hunting, I'd be more interested in the Applied Engineering Conserver. If I was concerned about heat I'd go with an external power supply and maybe stick a fan in the opening where the original power supply was. I always thought most of the heat inside the IIgs is from the power supply.

IIgs accelerators are pricey because the demand exceeds the limited supply. There were only two brands. Hopefully you have some form of hard drive. That made more of a difference than anything. Some hard drive interfaces were hugely faster than others.

I have a set of those Bose speakers around somewhere. They weren't bad but I ended up connecting my IIgs to a full sized stereo sound system.

Re: Components I'd Really Like To Buy For The Apple IIgs

IIgs,

After a while of searching through the Apple II eBay listings, you get to know the major players. Two of them are in California, and a couple in the mid-west (lol anywhere west of Maryland is mid-west).

I think they are living in a bubble of some kind and either don't know what is going on in the rest of the country, or just don't care. Since they have the the goodies in hand, they can wait for some poor schmuck to pay thier prices.

Currently( I'm sure you have seen it) there is a guy in Illinois with a 20 Meg Hard Card for sale for $299.00 (or best offer). I offered him $20.00 for it, just to see what he would say. Of course it was declined and he asked me if I were serious. I offered him $21.00 and said yes; that I was serious as most Apple II users/collectors have gone to CFFA and other devices for hard drive systems. That offer was also declined. Smile

If you don't mind my saying so; if you can find a "5" and clean it up, it can become a "10" with a little patience. I have done this many times and saved money to boot.
