Can one upgrade Nubus video card to 2MB?

There are Apple video card that has 512k onboard plus 2 VRAM SIMM slots (for 256k) or 1MB with no upgrade slot. Theoretically can one get a 1MB video card, add in slots and have it support 2x512k SIMMs?
