I didn't want my first post on this site to be negative, but I would like to share my experience with member 'Atek34' who had posted an Apple II A2S1, 2 drives, and a few disks on here a couple months ago. I purchased this from him for $800 shipped.
When the 2 boxes arrived, the original packaging for both the computer and drives had mouse damage inside (foam chewed up and droppings still inside). Definitely not what was shown in the photos. The computer box wasn't a big deal since it was for an Apple IIe, but the drive boxes were matching. The other issue is several of the disks were missing. I contacted him several times and finally received an answer that he found them and would be sending them out. I patiently waited and contacted again... no answer this time.
I wasn't going to post this information, but today I see he has these disks on Ebay! (seller name 'casecobil_0)
What is wrong with people? Especially someone who would come to a forum like this to sell and for advice.
Let me give you my side of the story . i sold the apple II to this guy on Facebook for 800 , which i might add was well below going price for a II in good condition. The pictures showed the condition of the boxes it came with and the item was shipped as it was seen in the photos . there was no switcheroo or any nonsense. I will say that I personally did not package and ship the item , my brother did. And in regards to the boxes having evidence of mouse inhabitants I can not say and didnt instruct my brother to do anything but package and ship the computer.so it is possible that the box issue was overlooked but in my defense these are pushing 40 yr old computers most of which are stored in attics and barns and very common thing hsve occur. The buyer had clear pictures and scored an original apple iI in excellent condition for cheapest ive witnessed in years . I can see if he paid for original boxed set at $2k + but this was not the case . my brother forgot to include the discs ( 3 system disks values at roughly $30) it was an honest mistake no intent on stiffing you . i was dealing with with a death in the family and will admit the three disks kind of slipped my mind and didnt really take any priority at the and for that im sry. He opens up a case on paypal for the full amount refund and I'm scratching my head. Not to mention paypal taking out the 800 from my account as hold. I offered to refund him the value of the disks
But he didn't accept and then told him I'd happily refund him 800 if he returned the apple ii. He also declined. So now I see this?! Im shaking my head
I think $800 was a fair price for a late Apple II (s/n 39558, rev 4 motherboard) with 2 disk drives.
There was no offer from Atek34 for a partial refund like I had requested on Paypal. The only response back thru Paypal (just before the case was going to be closed) was to return the items for a full refund. I couldn't return the items as I received them because I threw away the boxes. That was my fault and so I decided to drop the issue. Until I saw the ad on E-bay. If anybody is unsure before buying from him, I can send you the FB messenger discussion for the full story.
