Hi
I have a apple II or II+. I have the applesoft roms in it and the auto monitor.
When i turn the computer on I get horizontal bars down the screen.
When i press the control reset it goes into applesoft with apple II displayed on the top.
That is with the Disk Drive card not installed.
When I install the Disk II Card with drive, it automatically looks for the a disk to boot.
I checked the roms and F8 is a auto monitor.
What could be wrong? Could it be the Q5 transistor? I read that in the serice manual but it
mentioned vertical lines and i am getting horizontal bars. Maybe bad memory?
I eventually want to replace Applesoft chips with original roms if anyone has spares haha.
I think my motherboard is a rev 3. I have the plus badge on the case, on the bottom case it
has the black sticker, with a warranty date on it and a serial number. Also has the normal
green and white sicker with three models on it with the first one checked.
Any clue on the bars at start up?
Thanks
Casey
Well I fixed it :). Bad q5 transistor.
I think I have a early rev 7 motherboard. Chip near the 555 timers and q5 transistor had wires leading to parts of the motherboard.
Resisters marked but not filled on the board also like it was in alpha stage or something. Anyway cheers
I'm interested in a photo of the motherboard if you don't mind posting.
Hi
Will do. Already installed the board back in but I can take a picture. It's interesting because the far bottom right chip is on the far corner. Other boards its little further up and the little area for extra circuit is on the far edge but this its the opposite.
I'll I need is a new apple II+ keyboard or 6 replacement key switches lol
Here are some pictures
I don't know how to post pictures on here but here is a link.
