You can boot DOS 3.3 from a 5-1/4" disk II drive. You can boot ProDOS from either a 5-1/4" or a 3-1/2" disk and drive. Both size drives will plug into the disk drive connector on the back of the GS. The 5-1/4" will automatically become "slot 6, drive 1" and the 3-1/2" will automatically become "slot 5, drive 1"
You can use either. If you plug in a controller card, you must set the slot you plugged it into to "Your Card" in the GS control panel (Ctrl-OpenApple-Esc).
For GSOS, there is. But otherwise, the GS will boot pretty much any disk made for any Apple II computer.
thxs a bunch was making sure i was not jest butting my head against a wall lol
..and one last question ..David ???
is ALL ....Apple II/+/e/c...software 100% computible with Apple IIGS ?
all GAMES exactly ???
There is no such thing as "100%" in real life. But the GS comes pretty close. As long as the software is not taking advantage of something specific to one particular model - it will be compatible. The GS doesn't have a cassette port. Anything that takes advantage of, or expects there to be firmware for the cassette interface won't work, for example.
i see
so ..all apple games on normal diskettes /140 kb/ will boot and will run ... normaly
tnx David
