Beginners Welcome

A member told me recently that he wasn't comfortable posting a basic question about his replica here, because it seemed out of place among the more advanced topics being discussed. I want to emphasize that all experience levels are welcome. If you have a basic question, please feel free to start a thread or reply to this one.

Beginners welcome !

Uncle Bernie agrees !

I'm lurking here on this forum  to help Apple-1 beginners, too. And feel free to ask any questions about the Apple-1 !

Especially "beginner questions"are welcome  as these often are much much more valuable for the Apple-1 scene than the  very sophisticated questions the more advanced builders may ask.

It is a general rule for any field of science and engineering that the more sophisticated a topic gets, the less audience there is. A book for beginners like "C++ for Dummies" might sell a million copies but a book on modern submicron CMOS RF design might sell a few hundred copies. (I made these numbers up but the orders of magnitude should be about right).

You get the idea. There are many open questions that still need to be asked and answered. The more we can get into this forum, the quicker the knowledge base on the Apple-1 will grow !

I joined this forum back in

I joined this forum back in 2017 (or was it 2016?) as an absolute beginner and asked a bunch of dumb questions. Not once did I get anything positive support and encouragement. I have now graduated from absolute beginner to novice mostly due to the help of more experienced members.

Sympathy/Story

I fully agree with this thread,

I joined in July 2020. A lot of people thought I was trolling them from the questions I would ask. But I realized that certain people don't like to see young people try to learn. I mean what 14 year old kid wouldn't ask the occasional dumb question at times. Now being 18, I can still remember when I soldered my first Apple ll Board on my carpet bedroom floor, believe me I was a hardcore NEWB then, but truly amazing people reached out to me to offer their help where ever they could on here & the "Apple ll Enthusiasts" & "Apple-1 Enthusiasts" groups on Facebook. Anyways, I super glad that this thread now exists. I used to be in the same position as other newbies at one point. So with that being said, I would also like to pass it on and offer my help to anyone that needs it!

Best,

Logan

When Applefritter was young, I'm pretty certain most of our members were teenagers. I was.

When AppleFritter was young...

... I was old like UncleBernie! Ha!  We're about the same age.

...and for the rcord, I've always thought that Logan and the likes was and is the future of saving the Apple 1 & II from extinction.

Keep up the good work!

Macnoyd, I appreciate that. I

Macnoyd,

I appreciate that. I don't hear that enough. Not to many people appreciate the hard efforts I have been making with the Apple ll and Apple-1 in the last 2 years maybe. I hope the new people get that.

Best,

Logan

Hi and Thanks for allow me to participate here

Hi,

I'm new in the forum and want to present myself.

For years I have been an electronic enthusiast, playing in the 90 with those Electronics magazines with kits like the dice one an so. Later I started playing with those X86 Pc and getting my first magic smoke!.

Since 8 years ago I move on to all Arduino projects and improve a little bit my electronic and soldering skills.

Recently I get a Commodore 64 and played a lot with it and made some maintenance and low level repairs, but now I want to build an Apple 1 and after doing some research this is the place to get the most of the knowledge.

So thanks for keeping this community alive, and for being open to newbies like me!

Kind Regards,

Rafa (Boba fett xD)

Bienvenido Tulack!  I am a

Bienvenido Tulack!

I am a huge fan of the Replica 1 Plus systems. You may find some of my previous posts intersting, as well as several projects and products from our own @P-LAB which work with the R1+ such as SD and Wifi expansion, or Appledore keyboard adapter to use C64 keyboard.
