Anyone got an idea of how to connect 4 (or more) powerbooks together, to create one "supercomputer" for Final Cut Rendering and After FX processing power?

You can cluster any macs running OSX together using X-Grid. Its best they all have gigabit enet, to make it more responsive, but 100BT would still help in large renders I would think.
Yeah you can cluster them easily, but you can't run just any old process through it. It can only run command-line processes, so final cut is out.
You'll have to get a copy of Shake if you want to do that sort of clustering.
So you could actually cluster a stack of cheap beige G3 boards??? i know multiple G3s wouldn't be all the speedy but it'd be interesting to try. What sorts of things could you do with a setup like this - or a stack of G4s? Without having to write software to take advantage of the cluster that is.
