I have been working with Apple Fortran on the Virtual II emulator using Apple Fortran disk images from ftp.apple.asimov, FORT1.DSK and FORT2.NIB. On Vitrual II I can edit source files and complile them with no problems. I wanted to do the same on my actual Apple II Plus and tried to make actual FORT1 and FORT2 diskettes using my FloppyEmu. I connected the FloppyEmu as Disk 1 and used an actual Disk II drive for Disk 2. I was able to use Copy II+ 8.2 on FloppyEmu to make a copy of the FORT1.DSK image onto an actual 5.25 diskette, but when I tried to mount the FORT2.NIB image on the FloppuEmu, the FloppyEmu display stated that this image could not be used in this configuration. I read the FloppyEmu user manual and it states that .NIB images could be used. I had some games in the .NIB format and FloppyEmu had no problem using these images and I was able to boot the games and run them on my Apple II Plus while using the FloppyEmu as Disk1. What is special about the FORT2.NIB image such that FloppyEmu will not accept it as a viable disk image?

In the same asimov folder, there is a file called FORT2fixed.NIB. My FE seemed to mount that file fine. And like yours, did not like the non-fixed version.
I used the FORT2fixed.nib image and that did work with the FloppyEmu. When I used Copy II+ 8.2 with the COPY - Disk w/FORMAT option I did get read errors for Track 03 and 04, but the diskette copy of FORT2: does work. Thanks for the info.
