Macintosh LC G3

I'm planning to put the guts of my old PowerBook G3 (Wallstreet) into a LC case. The PowerBook's LCD is broken and there is something wrong with the battery so it's no good to me in it's old form and since I have a 15" PowerBook G4 Al I don't need it as a mobile computer either.
I will let you know how it works.

Btw, is there a good way to clean an old Mac Case (got really yellow over the years)? Any tricks?

Ooh.. Sounds like fun. Can't wait to see pictures. Seems like it'd be ann easy hack for the most part.

As for the coloring. I'd just give it a paint job. I don't believe the yellowish color will be removable. Same thing happens with old game systems.. most notably the SNES. Some models yellow. Some don't. So just paint it. Give it a neat name and let us see what you come up with. Acute

clean an LC

Hey

Take off all the metal and run it through the dishwasher. Or, you can soak it in detergent with a *little* bleach. That is assuming there is no heaps of stinking sticky gung on it.

There is also some cleaners m

There is also some cleaners ment to remove the oxidation that occurs to some plastics over time and make them white again. But basically they are just water with bleach. Like a 1:10 mix (bleach to water ratio). You want just enough bleach to turn it whiter, not enough to eat it Wink

Good idea! Post some pics when you're done, I'd like to see it. BTW, painting is certainly an option, unless you're going for a more original look.
