Hi All.
ASCOMP seems to be a bit hard to find on-line. User mutant_pie had once sent me a diskette with ASCOMP on it (about 4 years ago). So, me, having an incredible sense of urgency, have finally gotten around to making an image of it. Find it attached.
Much appreciated!
Very interesting, thank you. How does the output of AsComp compare to Beagle's compiler?
I wonder if anyone has scans of the docs for it. I should probably at least post some background for it...
AsComp (AppleSoft Compiler)
Produced by:Dan Davidson Phase Zero Software 2509 N. Campbell Ave. Suite 130 Tucson, Az 85719
Original List:$85.00 ($134.95 in Sept)
Written in: Assembly
Requires: 48K RAM, Applesoft ROM, Disk II
Source: Peelings II, July/Aug 1981 issue.
Ascomp may become a collector's item, because it disappeared about as suddenly as it arrived. Southwestern Data Systems bought the product and promptly withdrew it from the marketplace-not because they found bugs, but because they wanted to take a good look at it to see if there were features they might want to add. As of early August, Ascomp was undergoing minor improvements on its way to becoming SpeedStar. The reincarnated compiler was due to appear in the stores September 1.

If you haven't uploaded it to asimov, let me know, and I will push it up there with this information. If I can find any docs for it, I will submit them with it.
:)
BillO, you're a rock star! Thanks for preserving this for posterity! (and thanks to mutant_pie for getting it to you!)
Have you had a chance to use ASCOMP much? How does it stack up to the competition?
I have not used it recently and really only tried it once or twice. I have not had much development time on my Apple systems in some time.
Also, I have not uploaded to Asimov, so if you wnat to do that it would be great.
Done. I added ASCOMP.dsk and ASCOMP.txt with all of the details from my prior post.
Thank you, again.
What ever became of the "SpeedStar" that is mentioned? I don't remember that one?
Timelord, where can I get ASCOMP.txt? I don't see a download for it.
Just found an old magazine where ASCOMP was compared against other compilers (see page 14)

I uploaded it to the Asimov incomping path, but it doesn;t contain anything that isn't in this thread:
