I inherited a disassembled Apple IIe. After a few repairs, I'm almost done reassembling it, save for two problems: 1) The long springy metal strip that makes a connection with the removable lid is not attached to the case. (I believe it's a grounding strip.) I see the scratches in the lid, but I simply can't work out where the strip goes.
2) I have 4 black screws and 4 silver screws which have tooth washers. I know four attach the keyboard to the top of the case. Where do the other four go?If anyone can point me to a photo of the spring strip in place, I would be very grateful! Thanks for any help.
1) The long springy metal strip attaches by sliding on to the upper part of the metal bottom case, above the port covers. The plastic main upper case (not the lid) goes over it. It serves no electrical function, nor does it do anything hold the lid on. As far as I can tell it's there as a spacer/cushion to keep the lid from getting lodged in place, but I'm not sure.

I pulled mine part of the way off so you could see how it attached. (Also, I took the picture last night, but it took me this long to figure out how to add it to this post)
2) The black screws are for the keyboard, the others with tooth washers are to hold the motherboard in. You can see where they go in the picture above.
Thanks so much! Sorry it was so much trouble to post a picture. At least now another Apple IIe will be working again!
