Howdy All,
I've got my Beige G3 all set up in classic and everything is working nicely except for one thing: I can't get my CD-ROM drives recognized in X. They are not Apple drives, and I understand this creates issues with their support. In classic, I use the Toast CD Reader extension and they're both recognized no sweat. I've got a generic 40x OEM pulled from an HP desktop (IDE) and an external Yamaha 4x4x16 burner (SCSI - this is kinda a franken drive, I stripped a 300e out of it's external case and put the Yamaha in there). My question is: Is there an equivalent to the Toast CD Reader extension for X? I've tried googling, but I didn't come up with anything. I want to install my 10.1 upgrade, but it won't recognize the CD in X (This disk is unusable - continue initialize or eject) and I tried copying the contents of the CD to the harddrive and it wouldn't work.
Any help is always appreciated!

Not sure where or how, but I have seen some threads on resetting the parameters for certain things in Firmware. Start off by restting your PRAM and then ressetting you nvram.
A more experienced soul may be able to better help you along those lines.

If you have a problem with the way I do things, you can tell me via PM.
nor do I believe FIRE IN THE DISCO has one, rather I believe this was just a call for the standard picture you provide when you clean up double posts (that two headed guy from 'Hitchhikers Guide'- name escapes me again). I almost cried from laughing so hard when you did that to me the first time, cuz I knew I had goofed and had never seen that pic before.
I think this was more encouragement for you to do things the way you do things. No ill meant here...
