PowerPC Macs are only unsupported by this particular distro of Linux. I've installed older Linux on PowerPC Macs and it's okay, but I ended up going back to last supported versions of Mac OS X. By the early 2020's who knows what we'll be running. I think there is room for a mix of retro and new. Seeing that Apple is focused more on the iPhone than Macs, many are sadly looking to Linux running on albeit cheaper laptops.

Since the GNU software is open source, I am able to successfully compile modern software on my PowerPC Macs. For instance, I can still run Firefox and JavaScript. On the hardware side, my Intel MacBooks have all failed, but my older PowerPC Macs keep on running. I don't know if they'll still be running in 2020, but who knows.
