Hi, I have CFFA 3000 that I have just used as a floppy emulator that works great in my Apple II europlus. But when I now started to use it for smartport (prodos up to 32 MB) i get a lot of trouble both reading/writing to the smartport slot. I get I/O error, hang or crash.
I tested in all slots and with no other cards inside. I also tested in Apple II+ (NTSC) with the same problem.
I have firmware v3.1.1 with CPLD 6
I tried a lot and almost gave up, then I tried to use older firmware and tried with 3.0.3 that also have the same CPLD 6, and have the same issue.
Then I tried with old firmware 3.0.2 with CPLD 5 and now its works great!! Both read and write without any issue. Now I'm also able to create and format and copy files to the prodos smartport slot with prodos 2.4.1 and Copy II+ 7.2.
Could it be something with CPLD 6 version in Apple II+ ?
In the readme.txt I read "The CFFA3000 does read-ahead caching from USB or CF, while the Apple II is busy copying the previous block. This requires CPLD v6"
Could I use version 3.1.1 with CPLD 5 ?
Somebody know more about this issue ?
I also just created an account on CFFA forum http://dreher.net/forum1, but waiting to be approved.
I forgot to write that I tested with both original 6502 CPU and 65c02 CPU and same issue with both CPU's in both Apple II europlus (PAL) and Apple II + (NTSC).
Jay,
If anyone can answer your question, its Rich. lol
Steven
I vaguely recall that 65c02 is unsuitable for II/II+ due to some minute timing issues.
