I have a Panasonic RQ-309DS that won't record and I'm looking for the service manual and user manual. Anyone?
Also i need to know what cable to use it for the Apple 1 Cassette Interface.

Thanks Steven!
Any free official service manual for this?
I thought that was the Service Manual.
Here's one on eBay (UK):

Does the unit have issues with recording voice using the microphone as well?
I opened the unit a while ago and it looks like something is stucked that won't let the "RECORD" button to press down. I manually pushed something inside the unit to record and it works for both of the MIC input and CONDENSER MIC. The unit did not come with any microphone so i just used my ipod touch to record connect it to the MIC input. I'm surprised that the sound recording quality is good! not bad at all. Voice recording using the built-in condenser mic is also good.
I would check for the following things:
i'll get back to you with pictures when i get home
I serviced that exact model in a Panasonic warranty service center many years ago so very familiar with it. The reason the record switch doesn't go down is there is a mechanical lock mechanism that gets slid back by the write protect notch on the cassette tape. If that notch cover is missing on the tape or the metal tab in the back is bent back, the record switch will not go down. The tab should slide easily back with your finger. I think it's on the left side in back of the cassette opening looking from the front. Also there is a multi-contact record/play switch on the PCB that gets moved by the record button. That can cause no record, just clean it with contact spray cleaner. Oxide buildup on the head can cause it to play ok but weak recording also. Boy, this brings back memories. I serviced hundreds of those portable cassette players back in the day.

Thank you so much Larry G! I took off the tape and noticed the left write-protect is broken. Put in a smal crampled paper and the recording now works.
One more thing, does the steel handle have any lock mechanism or is just a free-pull-push handle? Sorry I'm not sure how to describe it in English.
The carrying handle? No it just slides in and out.
