I've been looking through eBay at 80 column cards that would work on a II+. Any thoughts on what is the best card to get? Or avoid? I see several like this one:

But really have no clue what I should get.
Thanks.
sm3,
Ask the seller if it has been tested.
If he says Yes, ask him what it was tested on.
If he says No, you're taking a chance,
but from what I am seeing it looks good
and the price is right.

Any other recommendations? I am also struggling with which brand is best. Anyone have a PRO and CON list for the top few best Apple II+ 80 Column Cards?
I always thought the "Videx Videoterm 80 Column Display" was the best one to get. If so, anyone have working card they are wiling to sell?
Suggestions?
Thanks,
David
I've red in this thread ( https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/comp.sys.apple2/8yUpfbAgdx0/oVwep6fMsTYJ ) that at the end the Videx Videoterm was the card that made a working connection between the Apple II+ and the Raspberry PI possible. The Videx Ultraterm did not work well.
Have a look at ebay - I found mine there - you can take a look here: http://www.blujay.com/index.html?page=profile&profile_username=drkenb&/
Videx was the most supported brand back in the day.
Thanks Steven, wished I went for the IIe instead of the II+, there seems to be many more options on eBay for IIe stuff.
I'm just going to keep watching. I don't really *need* an 80 column card at this time. I do have my IIc to use still.
Get a Platinum //e if you want the most reliable console. And it will come with the enhanced mousetext stuffage.
Hi Keatah,
I don't think I'll be getting any more Apple II's. I've got my IIc and IIc plus as well. I've got more vintage computers than room really
Get a Videx card that costs no more than $15. Everyone had one and they're not at all rare or valuable (unless you are the kind of person who thinks that a Disk II controller card is rare and valuable).
To avoid: any 80 columns card costing more than $20.
Nice to have: the switch plate that makes it easy to switch from 40 cols to 80 cols video.
Smart choice. This isn't the best time to be buying vintage Apple equipment, what with prices continually rising. It's why I've stopped buying.
The prices will hit a peak eventually and drop. They can't rise forever.
sm3,
He's right of course.
The sellers will eventually get the point that we,
as the buyers of this equipment, will not put up
with the prices they are asking.
This may be a niche market,
but if you stop and take a look at it
we control that market with our purchases.
The old saying goes...
"It is only worth what people are willing to pay for it."

That's the right attitude. While I'm still buying things, they are gap fillers. Cheap under $25 items. More like manuals, fittings, parts, misc things like that. The bulk of my collection is complete.
I ended up getting a Viewmax-80 card. It's been working pretty well.
