Hi,
Recently on ebay i was looking for Office 2004 for my mac. There was one, yes one, real copy that hadnt been registered. All the rest were 'Backup Copies.' Is it illegal to sell these? They are selling for like £20 each on ebay and i wondered if i could do it without breaking laws.
Thanks
Oli
Sounds like "Pirated" to me. No, it is *not* legal to sell a "backup" copy of a piece of software.

Wow. I didn't even know that Office 2004 was even released. I used to support Office 98/2001/X a couple of years ago before Mickysoft decided in its infinite wisdom to move a lot of its subcontracted support to some foreign countries (which I think they have pulled back to inhouse support).
I think it's ok to sell the installer media, so long as no installer codes are included. Those are registered and not easily transferred.
I do some volunteer support for a non-profit, and they are able to buy MS Office at a discount, but their license doesn't include the installer media; that has to be purchased separately.
Lets make some money!!
