Proterm and VT100

Im trying to decide whats going on here. My whole reason for moving to proterm 3.1 was that 2.1 seemed incapable of displaying VT100 correctly

Clearly my the codes are getting out there, as youll see below. whats the point of terminal emulation if it wont emulate? The only other possibility is that what linux is sending out is in fact not vt100

There are other telecom programs that, in my experience, emulate the VT100 much better than ProTERM Vanything. Back in college I preferred Agate, but I heard Zlink worked too.

Re: Proterm and VT100

should i assume then that nobody here has been able to use proterm as a terminal to a linux box where programs such as lynx might be used. Or any other application that would send VT100 codes?

Now ive downloaded and tried ZTERM with the same issue

Too bad, I was going to use the Apple II as the centerpiece for the new packet radio connectivity. After 80 views nobody can tell me why software designed for terminal emulation cannot emulate VT 100. The codes as sent not understood by software.
So I will reluctantly use a PC to continue the project

No! I got that to work perfectly with my Raspberry Pi 3 and MODEM.MGR. Lynx works great along with many other in-terminal programs. However, you need to use a USB to DB25 cable, and you have to abandon VT100 for VT220. If you happen to have a Pi on you along with one of those cables, enable serial via raspi-config. Then, type "sudo systemctl start serial- getty@ttyUSB0.service". It may give you an error, but it should work!

Also, try Agate instead.

Re: Proterm and VT100

The problem has been found.!!!!!!!

I hooked up the packet modem to a modern Laptop and tried the same procedure, sure enough, the issue persisted. At that point I knew it was the modem and not the computer of software.

From the deep depths of obscurity, it would seem that this edition of the modem had some built in escape functionality that overlapped VT100. After finding this out a setting called ESCAPE ON would ironically turn OFF modem escaping and pass escape codes through to the terminal. With that VT100 worked.
After testing this on the Laptop, I moved everything back to the Apple II and tried sucesfully both with Proterm 2.1 and 3.1
