I'm looking to buy an Apple II 3.5" Disk Controller card. The Superdrive card. And the Apple FDHD External (G7287).
I've been looking for this for about 3 years now and on Ebay it's way too expensive for me.

insanitor,
Man oh man.
They're too expensive for Everybody! lol
Some of the Sellers want your Arm, Leg, and First Born Child, PLUS the Money!
Steven
Yup.
The drives are not too bad. I was able to get a few for $75 to $100 each. The controller card is more money but I was able to get new one for a "reasonable" price. Less than 1/2 of the current ebay listing.
Well, I started this thread hoping that I can get a chance to get one for a "reasonable" price.
Here is your 1st chance in 3 months:

Good luck!
Ooooh, only 600 bucks! And that's so reasonable too!
Seller is hollywoodnerds in Austin, Texas.
Considering that Mr. "Arm and leg" sold this one for only $100.00 above that, then this auction is far from, "reasonable".

Cheribly is a Mrs. "Arm and leg", not a Mr.
Anyway, what do you consider reasonable for the controller and the drive? I have several NIB drives and controllers.
I'll send you a PM.
What's so special about the cards?
Apparently you can sell them for hundreds of dollars and some people will actually pay that much for them!
This card will allow you to hook up a 1.44MB floppy into your apple ii.
I guess so..
So really two answers to your question Keetah:

It looks like that Superdrive card recently listed on eBay was sold for ~$380. I don't recall seeing them listed too often, so it's tough to estimate their value. Personal interests and the timing of sellers and buyers is also a wildcard when determining value. That said, one of those cards would be a nice addition to the collection.
Well a 21meg Floptical Optical with a SCSI card would be cheaper, and it also reads and I believe writes to 1.44 disks. But finding them these day is a bit harder.
Today the price vibrates from about $400 to $800. As said before, timing of when a buyer and seller comes together makes a huge difference and whether there is a bidding war or not.
Back in the dotcom epoch, these things would move less then 40 or 50 bucks. And I remember getting 2 superdrives for $12.00 each. At least my email archives remember the transaction!
Note that this has recently been cloned and was available for some time here https://www.ultimateapple2.com/catalogzen154/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_17&products_id=101
for $150. It's out-of-stock now.
I have an original one, so I haven't bought the clone and have no first-hand experience with it.
I have an FDHD external drive to sell. PM me an offer.
Sorry if I did not say this but I now have that cloned card from Ultimatemicro.
