ADTPro - Super Serial Card

Hi,

I've got a Super Serial Card, and I'm having trouble with it. I went on the ADTPro website, set the jumper block to down(straight through cable).

Then I set the DIP switches to as shown in the photo on their site. 1001111 1101100.

I've tried the following in slots 1,2,4,6. All yield the same result. Also, Slot 6 was where my floppy controller was, so I know that slot is OK.

I type IN#2(in slot 2).

It accepts that without any issue. Then I hold down CTRL, and press A. When I release, I get a new line, and the previous line has a blinking white box where the cursor used to be,

I get no Apple SSC: prompt. I just get a standard line.

This is an official Apple Super Serial Card, made in Singapore.

Are there any more troubleshooting steps for me? Should I just buy a new card?

Best,
George

So I believe the problem is not the SSC.

I used Audio Bootstrapping to get the Serial Client in, and everything went fine from then on.

I've just realized however, that anytime I press Control, the program breaks. To me, it seems like the Reset key is always "active" and when I press control, it breaks the program. Likewise I only need to press Control and Apple to get a cold reset.

What do I do? Is this an issue with the actual keyboard? An IC? What are some potential diagnostic steps here?

Measure the Reset button contact state.

Re: ADTPro - Super Serial Card

Thanks for the tip.

The Reset key was shorted closed. It looks like a screw was missing that is needed to keep even pressure between the keyboard and the PCB. I added a screw, it caused the key to behave normally.

George
