I have qn Apple Keyboard II (M0487) that is in need of a cleaning. There is all sorts of crud under the keys and I'm trying to figure out how to get the keycaps off so that I could clean beneath them.

I find that using an IC chip extractor like the one linked below works fairly well on most mechanical keyboard keys.

Yes, I got an IC extractor, so that part is covered. Is it safe to just pull the keycap and is there a spring under?
The IC extractor worked a treat. The frame had a good bath along with the keycaps. No more crud.

In fact i have nearly 200 pages at that site.....
the problem for this community:
the majority has been made in German language and it takes months to translate the stuff...
i started months ago and i also started indicating which pages have been translated and
which are still remaining in German language....

Excellent. I love that there is a great information exchange that goes on, on this site. That we are able to keep these well constructed machines in operational order long past their intended use is neat. SpeedyG deserves the accolades he gets for his great info sharing too.
The keyboard has been cleaned and it turned out very nice.
