Is there a version of the Apple IIGS PSU that has a switch for input voltage to select between 110 and 220 volts? To be more specific, has this variation been sold in the US market?

yes there is a version that has been sold in the USA, but it did not come from Apple -
but instead from Vulcan. They sold a version together with a IDE-Disk inside too and also inside
a switch to determine input voltage. It was sold as Vulcan Gold Vers.2.0

Applied Engineering resold a heavy duty 70W power supply (made in Asia, not on Vulcan) as well as their Vulcan PSU/Hard Drive.

protek is a new member and it´s not clear at the moment how far the experience is present
with soldering and reading shematics...
if you are talking about the BUGGY PSU ( mentioned in some threads ) he would have to change the connector...
the BUGGY PSU´s are delivered with connectors for the II+ and IIe series not for the IIGS.
So if he gets one. he will have to change the plug and the connections.
But if enough experience with soldering is availiable there are several soltions possible.
Up to the moment he only asks for those PSU´s being "sold in USA" - this might be indication
that he does not want to touch soldering iron.....

I'd like to think myself as competent regarding soldering. I've changed caps and installed chip sockets into old computers. I've also done my own cables based on schematics and I've installed a switch on the mains side of a PSU to mention a few.
I'm open for opening up the existing PSU and replacing the insides. From what I've understood from the Buggy, though, that it is basically a PicoPSU and those usually are meant to be used with external PSUs and a brick on the floor isn't exactly what I'm after.

it was just a conclusion from postings up till now....
sometimes old vet´s like us start immediatly with proposals and afterwards discover that we
started at a point a newbie can´t follow....
so it was just mentioning about some care....
There is also another alternate solution....:

allthough it shows a mod of the "classic Apple II PSU" there are also info´s how similar mod can be performed
with IIGS Powersupply.... i´ve performed such mod with 2 IIGS PSU´s too....
Allthough it´s not a common solution, it´s very effective.... without having an "external brick"....
the only point will be to find a fitting very small PC-PSU.
Then it can be handled that way, that after performence of the mod the only difference
viewable fron the outside of the PSU, will be additional outlet of the cooling fan in the PSU-case....

thats a very good alternative solution...
though rather expensive.... real high quality....
leaves enough space to add a cooling vent....
