Apple IIc power adapter

Hi all. Can anyone tell me the specs for the cable that runs from the IIc's external power adapter to the computer? Thanks.

Re: Apple IIc power adapter

Has anyone out there built their own //c power supply to replace the "brick"? I have a spare Mean Well unit sitting around somewhere... think that is +15V / 1.0A (and 1"x2"x2.5").

Re: Apple IIc power adapter

I haven't yet, but it looks pretty easy. All the info you need is in the Apple IIc Technical Reference Manual, Vol. 1, sections 11.2.1 thru 11.2.3. The stock Apple brick's output is 15V DC at 1.2A, so that's 18W. The internal switching converter will operate on 9 to 20 V DC, so presumably you could supply 12V at 1.5A, for example, or 18V at 1.0A. In any case, 15V at 1.2A isn't hard to find. A quick search and random click-thru gave me this: www.dx.com, SKU # 286469. Even that hardcore retro 7-pin DIN connector turns out to be easy to get. Digikey, for example, has them. In terms of cost, I don't know how it would compare with buying an original power adapter, but it would definitely downsize the brick.

There's actually a guy on eBay selling homemade adapters for the IIc; search for item # 221294478704.

Then again, you could also do your own battery pack. There's a good video that vwestlife did showing his IIc running on a 12V battery at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m98agJUoCck.

tore mine apart

my IIc burned out decades ago, just took apart the power supply the harvest the transformer. Tested the output, 19v, don't remember if rectified or not. I think I still have the cord I cut off
