WTB: Apple II or II Plus system

Hi all! Along with my Apple I, I have been looking for a working Apple II (or plus) system, with drive(s). I want to stay as far away from ebay as possible lol.
I'm located in S FL.

Thanks!

PS - I wouldn't mind a non-functioing II plus as a project.

Re: WTB: Apple II system

I think you may want to just get a II plus. Old_hitech's system is a very good price for as early a serial number as it is. Unless you want a mostly trashed or Frankenstein machine or you get lucky, expect for a decent rev 4 to cost 1k alone and then up depending on condition and operating state. Most of the II systems on eBay that have gone for less than 1k have been Frankenstein or not running and in bad condition.

Another option is to buy a II plus and get one of Mike Willegal's rev 0 boards, I think he just got more made, then you should be able to build a rev 0 replica for a reasonable price using the II plus as a donor. As you have money you can swap out parts for more original ones as you come across them (i.e. datanetics keyboard)

Good luck,
Corey

I need to update my post. An Apple II plus would be just fine. I've been on the look out for both. I also wouldn't mind a non-funtioing II Plus. I wouldn't mind doing some repairs.

I may need to hit up Mike and see if he has any Rev 0 boards. I have been eyeing them up for some time.

Thanks!

Re: WTB: Apple II system

I have a new batch in of rev 0 boards on hand, but am not quite ready to ship. Since I made a number of detail changes for this batch, I am building a prototype unit to make sure that I didn't break anything touching the layout. I did a lot of soldering today and may be able to start testing the prototype as soon as tomorrow. I also need to make a new batch of decals for the logo and jumper block lettering. I'm planning on printing my own decals and had some issues first pass at making the screen, so I'll have to do it over. Worst case is that I'll go back to the service that made them for me in the past.

regards,
Mike W.

How difficult is it to obtain comment for the board?

Re: WTB: Apple II system

ROMs, edge connector, crystal, and character generator are the only parts that pose any difficulty at all.

Re: WTB: Apple II or II Plus system

Hi Cornetta77,

I dug this one out of my stash in the basement. It is a real late model II plus and has a 16K Language Card and works good except for some of the keyboard keys sticking. It has a Super Serial Card and includes the two Disk II disk drives and controller. (Ceramic RAM on the MB and Language Card)

I'll offer it to you here for $180.00 plus shipping and then you will have your II plus. If you don't want it then I am just going to hang on to it. From looking on eBay, I don't think this is an outrageous price but you tell me.

As you can see it is in nice shape. (Other than some keys sticking)

Let me know.

Jay
