ALF Music Syntheziser

Hi there,

i am a regular at csa2 and thought, i would make an appearance here. A while back i was able to get a ALF Music Syntheziser (MC16), but it lacks the quartz crystal. I have tried to get the exact frequency (1782khz) but the only ones i found readily available were 3560khz (2x1780khz). Does anyone of you know where i can get the exact frequency quartz?

This page at the bottom has a list of vendors that make quartz crystals. The first website on the list, when you click on it says that any crystal that has a higher frequency than one found on a watch, that you should call them to have one custom made. http://www.icmfg.com/crystals.html

Re: ALF Music Syntheziser

Thanks for the reply, but i have already made a request at several places. Bottom line for custom crystals is: either the price is above $50/pc or i have to order 100 pcs or more. Both routes are much to expensive. I was hoping for a hint where i could get a 1.78Mhz crystal. There might be another application for this frequency. Why else would someone remove a high precision 1.782mhz crystal from the ALF MC16? HAM-Radio maybe?

Re: ALF Music Syntheziser

I have added a small board to to the ALF MC16 to get half the clock of 3.560Khz (a crystal that can actually be found online). The very small pcb replaces the 74ls324 (74LS624) with a mini-logic that takes the clock that is generated by the (now 'off board') 74LS324 VCO and feeds it though a fast flip-flop (74S74). The only thing thats missing is the MC16 Software. I thought i had seen it online. Now it turns out its only the MC1 Software. Does anyone know where to find the MC16 Software? I would like to test this mod. Further more i have found all the needed Chips to make a clone of the MC16.

The Software for the MC16 should be: Standard 10-5-16 AMS software 13-3-1B

... only needs testing Wink
