Some small "lucky" Apple-related stories...

While searching eBay I found an auction, one of the kind "is this price ok?":

Thinking Different Brochure

I won't complain about the price but this auction remembers me on how I got my brochure - in pristine condition. In fact I won some auctions (mostly not eBay but a Swiss pendant to it) in a very strange way or the handling afterwards was strange. This brochure was placed about 9 days. No one than me was interested. So I was the winner and got it for about 20 US Dollars.
The same happened while bidding onto an Apple TechStep - complete with all modules. Again, no one was interested so I picked it up for about 40 Dollars. My new unused Bandai Pippin in original boxing was a bit more expensive but even this one stayed below 100 Dollars. The first of three Twentieth Anniversary Macs (nearly complete, original boxing) was very expensive, but it was never used in private range. The second one (just the machine, no add ons) was a bit cheaper but my third (display broken, now spare parts server) was sold to me for about 80 Dollars. But the biggest "BANG" I had was my NeXTcube 040. This auction was re-activated three times. I kept on watching it because I was curious what the winning bid would look like. But nothing happened. No one was bidding. So relatively short befor ending I started to bid on that NeXTcube in working order, no scratches (just remains of some autocollant on the housing), the Frog design black & white display and the original NeXT keyboard (no software but alltogether in very fine condition). Two days later I was picking up that box. Just paid 45 Dollars for it.

Have You been that lucky sometimes? Just curious...

I just won a pb 190cs with software and 18 diskettes for 30$ with no other bidders. Another time I was at a used bookstore and found a boxed copy of os 9 for 1$. It saved my performa 5215 (it would not accept my os 7.5.5 disks).

Leo and All,

Nothing lately, but as I start placing money back in the bank acounts I'm starting to look again. I just picked up an AE Clock Card, BIN Price on eBay of $25.00. In my honest opinion, not a bad price.

Cool. Do you think a powerbook 150 for 60$ with power adapter in working condition is worth buying? the ad shows 100$ but the price dropped.

Leo and all,

Picked up an AE RamKeeper from an eBay auction today.
Price: $190.00
It is the complete unit, in the original box with all the accessories.
I was surprised I got it for less than $200.00.
Maybe my luck is changing? Smile

PowerBookFan,

Man...I hate that when it happens. You pay good money for something and it arrives broken. I hope the seller has agreed to refund your money?

Jay,

Looks like a good bunch of units. Lot's of new toys to play with. Smile

He did fefund *some* of the money, but not the shipping (which was halve the purchase price). Last saturday, I saw an ad for a powerbook 520c for trade. I cant wait to go back to scool. The bastment has not been cleaned in 20 years. I have already gotten almost 100 discs including soft windows 3.1. I have even seen a boxed pair of apple 5 1/4'' drives down there.
