Hi:
I have a network of mixed Mac and PC. Mainly, OSX 10.6.8 and Window 7, with 1 XP that refuse to get upgraded. I also got 1 time capsule and 1 D-Link DNS-323.
Here is the weird problem I run into. Everything was working fine until yesterday. All the shared drive or computers disappeared from one of the Mac Pro running 10.6.8. Time capsule, the D-Link nas, all the Mac and Win7 showed under shared fine until yesterday. I am not sure what caused it. I some nasty storm blown through our area with 10 inches of snow. The power flicker on and off many times when this Mac was on. I noticed my Brother HL-3040CN went off and wouldn't turn on again at the end of the day(that is a separate problem by itself). I was also testing a USB to Ethernet dongle during the day. So at one point in time I had 2 network cable connected to the system with 2 IPs.
I noticed today I have no time capsule or any device at all under shared. I had removed the USB hardware and deleted the setting from network connections. I had repair all the drive under disk utility just in case something bad happened when the power failed. Still, I have no shared devices. I can "connect to server" under finder and manually enter the IP address with SMB and the device is there and is accessible. An it will show up under shared as a PC with the IP but not the name.
Any idea what happened?
Thanks guys

Problems solved.
I rebooted the entire house and workshop. Basically, turn all the computers off, then turn the 2 main breakers(house and workshop) off for a few minutes, then power back on again.
must have been some stuck bit in one of the router or hub.
