TOM

Why is the 2 profile pictures of him on the Applefritter on Facebook like here on Applefritter?

Is he cloning himself to get more work done? Will there be 3 of him next week, will there be so many that, he take over the world? Is he morphing all the users to look like him? Maybe this all happens when he sleeps.

We need to know.

Re: TOM

guess rather more some narcistic passion.... or the urgent need for "friend" hits at facebook... probably as result of a running bet ( how many hits on "they like me" at facebook and the winner gets the advertizing contract... )? probably some kind of christmas-competition at facebook... who bothers facebook ???

You gotta watch the "Bah-Humbug" Speedy.

I'm not narcisistic and I like the Applefritter Facebook Page. I just added my pic too. Smile

Re: TOM

hello steve,
it wasn´t comment up to the facebookpage of apple fritter... it was comment to the "clone-argument" from twilight_rodent - and besides it was just a comment to facebook "in general" .... there are several facts to bother about facebook as platform.....
first the lots of lacks to security-issues.... second the habits in some parts of the community there with some kind of "competition amoung the kids" by "collecting" masses of "friend-clicks" without ever having talked with the persons that have been "collected" and clicked "to be friend" - that raises up to competition in schools and i doubt of the fact that this all have "positive influence" to the kids.... somehow it rather more descredits the real values in life ( at least up to my opinion... ) - but probably your right with the guess that i overvalue this kind of aspects and therefor might also have less good opinion to facebook and the "need" of it ... probably i just am not able to recognize the "true value" of this platform, because i´m not aware of it... ( for example instant messaging that i´m out for the barbershop or that i´m just in the moment heading to pick up a hamburger at mc Donalds..... should we raise the rates for the health insurance? ihe is too often up with fast food... ) - probably i´m just crazy because i believe this thing to lead us on straight path to orwells hell of 1984 and "big brother" ??? ... last not least the whole platform starts to turn just to be a "valuable advertizing platform to adress consumers with selected advertisements to the listed hobbies.... yeah lets just mutate to consumers and make the madisaon avenue run at its best performance.... yes i do miss some critical view to this hype.... and probably i´ve been too long up with security issues at business in former days...are you aware that security companies collect data from facebook to generate reports to value "your worth as employee" and that that kind of informations collected probabaly might end up in your records in the company you work at ???

Re: TOM

hello twilight_rodent,
i appreciate the idea to the one armed bandit....
i just was astonished to the reaction of steve....
so finally after that empathey to facebook, i felt the urge for pulling the handbrake rushing up that highway to
march in solidarity with facebook....
in early years we went marching against war and nowadays people get kicked for siding with the "occupy wallstreet movement"......
its something like a slightly creeping paranoia of me that i fear every critical mind will end up with a file at the homeland security today .... that recovers memories to mc carthy ... and we all know where that ended up.... its something like a gift to the "late born generation" to not know about history and a desease to the dinosaurs to be infected by memory of history....

Re: TOM

Twilight and Speedy,

If you look at Facebook the way I do...as a tool, it's not that bad. I usually go up about once per week to check in with my extended family and friends, most of whom I've known for over 40 years. Most of them are from High School, or friends I made in the Military. Some of them I've known for 30 years.
They even have an Apple II Group that I like to check out every once in a while. Smile

Re: TOM

hello Steven,
of course you are right with the ability to use facebook as a tool...
but first the very point is that this "tool" has very very serious lacks to security.....
the platform is slashed all over with mistakes and leaks at the one side and mr.zuckerberg and his crew don´t
care just even one second about this lacks
.... the don´t do any workout to overcome this serious lacks that have reported for hundreds of times and for periods of months...... they refuse to take responsibility for their software and platform....
the result is like with any tool: you can use it to execute some handcraft ... but you might be killed by an unsafe tool !
transferred to reallife: you can use facebook to take contact to your friends... but any person that dislikes you can easily crack the access to your account and get access to facts and data that you believe to be hidden from public access, because it has been defined to be private and at the end that information and data might end up at your enemy or your boss at work or the security-file within the company you work.... and nobody at facebook cares about these lacks a single second...
for example how funny would you think it could become, if a crazy stalker traces and tracks your wife with the information from facebook and stalking her girlfreinds too.... ??? and the guys at facebook know about these lacks for months ! and worst thing: they don´t care about it ! still funny ???
whats up if you had a son, who had days ago lot of friends and these friends all to be blackmailed by a third person with data only known by your son.... the result will be killing all social contacts of him... nobody in school would even trust him a single second more and just even talk with him... he would become a single island in school... still funny ? or you exchange an opinion about a person ( in the company you work in ) - in a message with your brother or friend and then in the company you become isolated and few days later fired.... this already happened in reallife to several members of facebook... still funny too ?
thinking about facebook as a tool might be an attempt.... but then it is a very dangerous tool and nobody there in the staff of facebook cares about if you get seriously damaged ... and that for sure is a huge problem to be aware of... and thats not funny at all!

i´d rather compare this tool to a car where the company knows it to be a bomb if you hit the left turnlight and the tank to explode and nobody at the company cares about your safty - they just calculate it as a "payable risk" and sell that car without changing the design to make the car safer.....
O.K. its still a car and you can drive with it fram A to B.... but probably you´ll change your mind to the car, if you get blasted in an explosion just because you wanted to turn left at the next raodcrossing.... and it would be interesting to find out your opinion about the car in the few milliseconds between striking the switch of the turnlight and the final last breath - if anybody would tell you that the company that made the car - knew about the danger for months ago ! i guess you remember about the case that i now remind of...

Re: TOM

the best thing to that topic is to just remember:
few moths ago there was a trail against zuckerberg in which the former creator of the software claimed for the ownership of the software and lost the trail and zuckerberg claiming it to be "his stuff"...
the poor guy lost the trial...
and zuckerberg knows about the lacks and dangers within the software.....
he performs same acting as the carcompany in those former days and denies any responsibility and he refuses to shut down the lacks and makes not a single attempt to lock up the security-leaks....
on the other hand its proof to the guy that made the sue at court... its really his softwware and zuckerberg doesn´t even know a sigle bit about the source code ( of course ) to overcome the lacks....
but only with one thing in mind : "make big money"......
whats the moral out of the story ???
just even a payment of a million bucks to the former programmer would be only a "tip"
valued to the amounts related to the site ( last guess at wallstreet : 367 millions )...
but for sure its an evidence to economy in this days...
