So here's the thing. I have a IIc and want to put some software on 5 1/4 disks from the asimov ftp site. I'm borrowing a PC from a friend that's running win98 and it has a 5 1/4 drive in it. Most of the info I've found has to do with networking the IIc and another computer. But here I have a computer that I can put the disk images directly on and copy to a 5 1/4 floppy...but how?

Try WinImage . Download it from www.winimage.com/download.htm .It the best software for manipulating disk images.
You will need a software named ADT
this software will run in both sides(PC-APPLE)
You will transfer via serial port.
Good luck
The easiest and best way to transfer files to an apple II is to use a MAC LC or Performa 450 with an APPLE IIe Card and 5.25 drive. I have a Performa 450 with the Apple IIe Card, 5.25 drive, and CD-ROM drive and I transfer all my APPLE II software with it. I have a cdrom with 100's of APPLE II software on it, it's the fastest and easiest way but it may be hard to find this setup. I'd be willing to sell my rig with apple II software for the right price if anyone is interested.
