A much much better way would

A much much better way would be to pick up an ethernet card. Either an LC ethernet card or a Comm slot ethernet card will work. Some Comm slot II cards will fit either the Comm slot or Comm slot II but not all will.

you would be better with a Comm Slot or LC PDS ethernet card ... these fit inside expansion slots on the motherboard ... like PCI cards today ...

Comm: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4601&item=5113190356&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

LC-PDS: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=44926&item=5113511333&rd=1&ssPageName=WD2V

note that the Comm slot card has a BNC port, not a RJ-45 ... try and get one that has a RJ-45 as this will make hooking it up alot simpler ...

as for memory ... eBay is your best bet ... you need a 72-pin SIMM ...

hi, thanks for this... althou

hi, thanks for this... although i have a question.. do you think the second ebay link you posted will work on an lc 575? is it "plug and play"? or do i need to install extra stuff/software?

BTW: For the 72-pin SIMM, are pc and mac 72-pin simms the same thing?

if you have 7.5 or later installed then it should just be plug and play! ... if not then you need the drivers ...

http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html

its on there under "Network Software Installer" ...

as for the SIMMs ... there are two types of 72pin SIMMs, EDO and FPM ... AFAIK you need FPM (Fast Page Mode) SIMMs ... but other than that you should be OK with PC RAM ...
