Can any of you help me?
You know those Annoying Crack Screens that show up while a program was starting up, Like the attached files below? Every time I boot a program I see these every time.
They show before or after Prodos Boots up, and or boot into the screen using something called "Blade Boot" and then reboots into the startup sequences.

How the heck can you get rid of those Crack intro screens or "cracktros"?

Disassemble the binary and insert some NOP instructions.

Otherwise, the crack screens are just a part of history. That's how it is.

Yeah, those crackers who produced SCREEN 2.jpg sure were a pervasive bunch. I wonder what ever happened to them?

LOL .. Come on guys... Back in the day it seemed the norm for people to want Cracked Software! Means you didn't have to spend any of your money :O) I knew several proficient Crackers that knew there stuff! They knew 6502 Machine language like it was no bodies business! Hex Codes and Opp Codes and what not running in their heads! You have to admit that alot of the Crack Screens were pretty clever! Some had really awesome graphics and text put in , some not so good , but you have to remember it was an West Coast , East Coast type of deal. The Cracking clubs that started to pop up like MPG , PpG , and many others started competing to see who can crack the newest ware [software] put their name on it and get it onto the BBS's the fastest for imediete download! Alot of the transfer capabilities have to give credit to The Red Headed Freak! Hey created an awesome transfer program for the Apple Cat II called Disk-Fer! He never got any money for the program at all and it was used for many many years! But getting back to the Cracking pages , YES these can be anoying , but what can you do? Nothing , but atleast alot of the groups did the decent thing and kept the authors name on the screen and just added their crack name in there.

Everyone always said that Piracy was wrong! Well it was the thing to do back in the day when you were a kid and learning was part of it! Alot of these Crackers have moved on to bigger and better jobs in the puter business! I for one want to thank them , because if it were not for them and not having alot of money back years ago when I was a kid , I would never have been able to obtain all that software!

Cya.

The Jerk , The Freeze , The Bum , Dr. Micro , The Gonif , The Wombat , The Disk Jocky ..... <---- Remember those guys ;o)

A real hippy might not have cashed in his VW van to go corporate. I heard that they wrote a decent version of Super Breakout. One of them had the talent, the other one was always saying "How can we make money off of that?" Which I suppose is talent all it's own. I hear that he's selling more video games than ever before.

These screens are really a part of history. Cracked software was often more prevalent than the original store-bought copies. When we'd put these screens in, we'd code them right into the boot routines. So what you do to remove one screen most likely won't work for the next. Just because new ideas rolled around every few months. And new styles came with those ideas.

I would suggest you read up on assembly language and get familiar with rwts and dos and how the disk ][ unit works.

In many cases we didn't mess with the original title pages put there by the authors to begin with. It was more a group rivalry thing. Who could get the stuff released first. Owning a II+ and //e (my most used variants) were the best of times!

Keatah is correct! It was part of history , I rather enjoyed seeing the people who cracked the warez! Some of them were rather clever! Some had secret second pages that had rags of people on them and what not , alot of them added music notes to them! Clever stuff to say the least and I only wish I would have been able to do this but I was happier just to know alot of them in Southern Cal that were able to ! They were cool! And the warez parties! Who could forget those huh? Just bring some fresh floppies and your in! I would see II+'s with up to 6 floppy drives connected up , Penulti copy going and everyone poppin their floppies in for copies , LOL those were the days!

Anyone ever known what ever happen to The Blade or Mini Appler?

FuN TiMeS :O)
