Good OS for Server

I have an old beige G3 233mhz for a server, 128 megs ram 80 gig in it, Im running panther 10.3.4 on it right now, but what would you guys recommend for a personal file server/dhcp server/print server. I'll be moving into an actual retail office space soon so i figured id build something up. I was originally thinking of going with the original Mac OS X, the rhapsody based one. But i dont know yet. Id like it to be headless server that just kinda sits outta the way.

i think it would depend on ho

i think it would depend on how often it's going to be accessed, and how often setttings are going to be changed. I have a beige MT 266 with OS 9.1 and AppleShare IP 6.3 on it. Works fine for me. It's heaviest use is when most of my computers are turned on. On startup, they all connect to it and mount a shared volume.

file sharing, and it has a burner in it to burn cd images of my software when need be, basically i got a 80 gig drive that has all my data on it and id like to keep it on one system, that way in case my lappy and my desktop ever goes down i will have everything safe

Linux

You could always install YellowDog on it and use that for serving.

I've worked with the original OS X Server before when I administered a Mac lab. There isn't anything wrong with it per se, but documentation for it is nigh on non-exisitent. It's fairly powerful, but figuring out how to do things can be a little tricky if it isn't in one of the GUI programs.

why not just stick with Panth

why not just stick with Panther? ... its got basic sharing built in that will work with Macs and PCs and can do FTP and Web access if needed ...
