what color is a powerbook 520?

i was just wondering, what color is a powerbook 520? i have seen some in white and some in black. are the white ones anything special? also, what type of power adapter does it use? the same type as the powerbook g3, or is it earlier?

I don't recall any of the PowerBook 500 series coming in white. You might have seen a custom-painted unit.

Most of the 500 series was a two-tone charcoal grey. The rare PowerBook 550 (not sold in the USA) was jet black.

The 500 series used a power adapter unique to the series; it didn't share an adapter with any other series, IIRC.

I used the "ask seller a question" feature on eBay and mcclain8904 (the seller) replied, "It is gray."

Yeah, that's a plain-Jane PB 520.

If you're gonna get a 500-series, don't bother with anything but a 540c.

Sadly, yes. When I got my 540c, the box made a horrid rattling noise. So, I carefully opened it, and my power adapter's case had broken apart, leaving a couple exposed PCBs. I put about a dozen layers of duct tape on it. Works fine, but kinda scary. Let's hope it never dies.

Shoot, now you all have me reminiscing about old PowerBooks. Heh, anyone wanna donate a decent-condition Pismo or clamshell iBook to me? I promise I'll do top-secret Applefritter admin stuff (read: ban spammers) on it if that matters.

i meant the pb 140, one of the first laptops apple made (track ball, 1992), not anything from the 500 series, and as far as i can remember, the ac adapter does not make any noise.
