Hi,
I reacently aquired an Apple IIe and would like to make back up copies of some of the programs. But I don't have any more blank 5.25 floppys. Where do you get your blank floppys and what type are they? (single side, double side, dual density, high density, etc...)
Thank you in advance.
Single Sided Double Density disks can be found on eBay and several other Apple II web sites.
Double sided can be used, but they're not really recommended.
Good Hunting.
What web sites do you go on to buy the disks? Is it ok to use high density disks or only double density? And what format are they in? (ibm etc..)
Jermy,
First check eBay. When I get to work on Monday I will gather up the URL's that I have for disks and list them here. In the meantime, do a Google Search for sigle sided double density 5.25 inch disks and see what you come up with.
People sell a variety of disks on ebay. I have a couple of unopened boxes of Sony brand DS/DD disks (see my For Sale ad here on the Applefritter).
Apple II's used a couple of different formats on the 5.25" floppies, very few if any brands sold disks preformatted for use with Apples, mostly they were in PC DOS.
Apple II's used Apple DOS 3.2, DOS 3.3 (more popular), ProDOS8 (very popular). These formats were created by Apple. There were several other OS's including Diversi DOS etc. . .

I purchased disks from Mutant_Pie recently and will vouch for the quality of the disks and great customer service. You can't go wrong buying from him.
The disks I bought were 3M brand, but I'm sure the Sony's are similar (DS/DD). I am using mine with an Apple IIe and they read and write without a hitch.
I have read that you should only buy Double Density and not High Density due to data loss issues with High Density over time.
Double Density 5.25 disks will work but High density can't be formatted by an Apple II drive so don't bother getting any of those.

You can get DDDS 5.25" floppies here,

Jermy,
The only one I could come up with this morning is www.floppydisk.com and I think that one has been given to you already.

www.athana.com
$100 minimum order... that's a lot of diskettes.
Thank you all for all your ideas. If I had a choice should I get high density, double density, regular density etc.
What would you get?
Double density is the only way. (Nobody sells single density any more.) High density will not work reliably in your drive. So DD it is.
